BURTONSVILLE UNITS ARRIVE TO FIND FIRE SHOWING, MIDDLE OF THE ROW

Friday, November 9, 2012  This morning at 0923 Units from the First Battalion and PG were dispatched to 1750 Featherwood Street for a house fire. PE-715 (Capt Barber) arrived to find fire showing from the 1st floor of a 2 story middle of the row town home. PE-715’s crew lead off with a 200’ 1”3/4 line with Truck 715’s crew opening up. PE-724 (LT Furst) 2nd due backed up PE-715 and also gave the Charlie side report identifying boarded up windows on two floors. This bread and butter fire was held in check with minimal damage to exposures by aggressive engine and truck work of the First Battalion units.

MDTF-1 DEPLOYED TO NY AND NJ

Monday, November 5, 2012  For just about a week now members from the FEMA MDTF-1 team from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue have been deployed to the areas in New York and New Jersey that were affected by Hurricane Sandy.  They have been performing welfare checks and searches in some of the hardest hit areas by the hurricane.  Take a look at some photos of our team as they are deploying from Joint Base McGuire-Dix in Lakehurst, NJ to Staten Island, NY.

B-SHIFT WITH A KITCHEN FIRE IN THE FIRST

Sunday, November 4, 2012  The 1st Battalion is a great place to be a Fireman, with Firehouses very close to one another protecting the dense DC Metro area; all companies have to be “ready” to go!

 Today Engine 702 (Takoma Park) was slightly out of position for a first due house fire and Engine 716 (Silver Spring) ended up taking the 1st due responsibilities. Guess the rookie at 16 finally caught his first fire…….

 

 

 

BATTALION 2 ON THE A-SHIFT RUNS WORK IN THE 20 BOX

Wednesday, October 31, 2012  Today at 0841 crews from Battalion 2 ran a working fire in a top floor apartment building on Battery Lane. Crews made a good hit on this workng fire and were out a few hours with salvage and overhaul.

B-SHIFT RUNS HOUSE FIRE IN BURTONSVILLE

Tuesday, October 23, 2012  Today Captain Heflin was welcomed to 15 with a first due working kitchen fire. Crews made quick work by holding the fire to the room of origin. With no extension crews were released in about 1 hour.

The county is protected by 36 fire stations staffed by career and volunteer personnel. These stations are divided into 5 Battalions and consist of 34 Engine Companies, 15 Truck Companies and 6 Rescue Squads.

TWO WORKING HOUSE FIRES FOR STATION 15

Saturday, October 13, 2012  The First Due House Fire came in at approximately 2100 hours on October 13th, Company 15 and surrounding units were alerted to 13609 Fairridge Dr. for the report of a car on fire underneath a carport.  Units arrived on the scene to find fire showing from the carport extending into the house.  PE715 initiated an attack on the fire while T715 split into teams; laddering the building, performing primary searches, and performing horizontal ventilation before opening up for overhaul.     

 

The 2nd Fire of the Night for T715 came in at approximately 0100 hours on October 14th, T715 was alerted to 5207 Palco Place (Co. 811's 1st Due) as an additional special service for the working house fire.  Crews operated inside the structure assisting with extensive overhaul.

T715 CATCHES WORK IN PG COUNTY

Friday, October 12, 2012  At approximately 0100 hours on October 13th, T715 was alerted to 937 Fifth St in Laurel (company 49's 1st due) for the reported apartment fire. Initial units arrived on scene to find a 2 story, multifamily dwelling with fire showing from the 2nd floor. T715 arrived on the scene as the 2nd due special service, operated on the roof, and performed secondary searches

 

 

 

HEAVY FIRE SHOWING ON ARRIVAL IN THE 4TH BATTALION

Thursday, October 11, 2012  Today at 1549 hours units from Station 40 were dispatched to their first due to 4508 Cannes Lane for a reported fire in a town home. First in units arrived to find a well involved middle of the row townhome.

TRUCK AND ENGINE 715 GOES TO WORK IN PG COUNTY

Monday, October 8, 2012  Around 0300 hours on October 8th, Truck 715 and PE715 were alerted to 4805 Odell Rd in the Beltsville area of Prince George's County for the house fire. Units arrived on scene to find a one story, single family home with fire in the basement. The truck crew performed a primary search of the 1st floor and secondary searches of the rest of the structure with all searches negative.
